I believe both articles. Simply because both seem very logical if they're put together. I think the relatives of Poe did find him by a bar with alcohol in his system but I dont think he died from drinking too much. There are sources that have said Poe was not a heavy drinker, only in his younger days.
I also dont believe that Poe's cat gave him rabies, but that some other animal from sometime ago had bit him, because the doctor that cared for him those four days did not find bite marks and believed that he was not dying from alcohol but from a case of rabies because he had all the signs of it.
But it's still a mystery on the real reaon he died he did not have any bite marks that they know of and also had to same behaviors as a person with delrium tremens. The true story can also not be revealed because of the lack of medical advances.
Which brings me to my theory of Poe's death. I believe he had rabies and never knew. And one night he decided to drink a little more then usual which triggered his syptoms of rabies. And died four days later.

Victoria Najera English-2008 Final Exam
I think this is the correct theroy "Radies Death Theory" because it tells us alot. It has alot of detal. For example when it happen. Who it was. Where and why he got it.
Others don't really make alot of sence to me there confusing how he died. They change what happen and talk about things that shouldn't have been in there, that don't really help.
It also tells you that other people got rabies too. That bats subtypes have been seen that they have rabies and they found that rabis have been transmitted at that time.
He was dignosis easy striaght foward. The lack of evidence of a bite or scratch is not inconsisten with the diagnosis. There is a small incolation that occurs on the hand or foot.
So thats basicly why i think this theoy is true. It was hard to choose one because there was one that was like the same. This theory for me was the most realalistc. So i think rabies killed Poe.

Natasha Santos English 2-Final Exam
I think Poe was killed by "Rabies" instead of all the other diseases people had said he had. Because they mentioned he had "Rabies" twice in the stories. Then on the other diseases in only mentioned them once.
Then on this story they said things about where it happened, why, whom, what and how. It said alot of detail in the story. And I also like how the the people explained it.
It explained how people around him got "Rabies" too. Then the bats subtypes have been seen that they have "Rabies" also. The people found "Rabies" transmitted at the time.
The diagnosis is not always easy or straight forward. The incubation period in humans maybe as long as a year, if the inoculation is small and occurs on the hand or foot. The lack of evidence of a bit or scratch is not inconsistent with the diagnosis.
So that's why I think he died of "Rabies". Beacause alot of people also got very effected. Then also bats got it. So it could of been very dangerous around that time.

Blanca Reyes ENG 2(8)-FINAL EXAM
I think that Poes death was caused from drinking. While reading one of the passages while I dont believe that drinking can make you that siverly dilusional. It was probly enough to make him carless against the weather witch to me seems more realistic and possible.
The reason I have come to believe that Rabies was not the cause of death is because I think he would have died sooner. Not only because he would have had the poison inside of his body but his body probly wouldnt have been able to handle it while also trying to stay alive against the rain and wind.By then i think that his body would have given out.
If it would have also been Rabies I believe the hospital would have reacted differently to help him. And in the artical that followed Poe the most wand gave more detail about his behavior. It had no information about him suffering from wounds. It just seems like a story that was over exagerated over time with barly any evedence.
Poes death was more likly to have been caused from Alchohal poisioning , and Hypothermia in the late stages. The Rabies story also doesnt give logical reasoning that would make it more believe able . The story lacks to much evedence and contains tomany gaps. Which is why i believe he didnt die from it.

Elizabeth Rodriguez- ENG 2(8) - Final Exam
Many people come to the United States to achieve the "American Dream." People say the American Dream is to have money, own a house, to have a good job and to be successful. In my opinion I think the American Dream is an illusion but sometimes I think it's both reality and illusion. People who come from other countries to the U.S.A most of them come because they want a better life and this country has a lot of opportunities. My parents brought my brothers and I to the U.S.A to obtain a better education, go to college and to become successful but I see that my brothers didn't want any of the opportunities that were offered to them because they have rocks on their brains and don't think right. Now they have to work very hard in construction to get paid good. Me on the other hand, I'm about to graduate from high school on Friday and I'm going to college this fall 2008.
I think you can accomplish the "American Dream" anywhere. I just think it's up to what type of person you are and how hard you are willing to work. If you really want something you just have to work hard and never give up. People just find it easier to come here to the U.S.A because there's more help. The "American Dream" is not only here, it's everywhere and its what everybody wants.
The relationship with the "American Dream" and Gatsby is that Gatsby was a very ambitious perso. He wanted to be wealthy to attract the girl of his dreams. He became very rich and he had it all but the love of his life. Eventhough he had all the money he wanted he wasn't happy. He had came from another country to become successful and have money, so that's how I think it relates to the "American Dream."
Overall the "American Dream" to me is just an illusion. You can become successful anywhere you want if you really wanted to. With dedication, perseverance, and hard work you can accomplish anything you set your mind to. There's people out there that don't want you to be successful and it's not easy but you have to learn to ignore them and keep in mind what it is that you want.

Nissa Douglas--The Odyssey
In The Odyssey story of Odysseus as told by Homer our hero is called to face many obstacles and journeys. He must return home with help from the gods. In The Odyssey, courageous Odysseus is transformed into a hero and creates this legendary tale.
Odysseus is called to go to war in Troy. Athena, his mom, Agamemnon, and Menelaus encouraged Odysseus to leave. Even though his wife just had a baby he still made the difficult decision to get on the boat headed for the war in Troy.
As Odysseus traveled there are many of his journeys we don't know about. A couple are the war in Tory, him being held captive by Calypso...the hottest chick on the planet, and him getting past the monster Scylla. Odysseus had some mentors as he dealed with these events the most helpful were Athena (the goddess of wisdom), Teiresias, and the witch Circe. Odysseus does many heroic deeds in The Odyssey here are some of his best. Odysseus stabbed Polyphemus the cyclops, he visited the land of the dead, plus he save his men from being turned into swine by the witch Circe.
After a century of being pushed around in the ocean Odysseus finally makes it home. But his job is not done, earlier in the story he found out the suitors were trying to get with his wife. he also had to reclaim his kingdom but the hardest thing i believe is him having to meet his son.
Odyssey legend reveals a true hero's journey. Odysseus is called to Troy. During his journey he overcomes obstacles with help from the gods. Odysseus proves himself to be a classic hero.
