I believe the story Poe's Final Days is the most believable because it tells you pretty much what happened to him from the time he left Richmond to his death. The storytells you first how he got on the boat and on the boat they have no idea what he was up to. Then he got to Baltimore and in Gunner's Hall he must of been wearing "castoff clothing" because he wasn't wearing his own.
I think he died because of to much alcohol. He was delerious and had tremors. Dr. John J. Moran said he belives he had mania a potu, its an alcoholic state which the victum gets irrational and may become violent. Mania a potu is latin and means "madness from drinking."
In other stories/articles it says Poe had a fever before he left Richmond. And that they think it might be rabies that caused his death. But what I don't get about that is how did he get it. you never know he might of had rabies and alcohol poisoning. He could of been to drunk to know what happend to himself. Its also said in one story he could have been exposed to the wind and rain etc.
So in conclusion i am with the doctors about how he died. All the facts are there. He had almost every symptom. So therefor he must of died from alcohol.
