Nissa Douglas--The Odyssey

In The Odyssey story of Odysseus as told by Homer our hero is called to face many obstacles and journeys. He must return home with help from the gods. In The Odyssey, courageous Odysseus is transformed into a hero and creates this legendary tale.
Odysseus is called to go to war in Troy. Athena, his mom, Agamemnon, and Menelaus encouraged Odysseus to leave. Even though his wife just had a baby he still made the difficult decision to get on the boat headed for the war in Troy.
As Odysseus traveled there are many of his journeys we don't know about. A couple are the war in Tory, him being held captive by Calypso...the hottest chick on the planet, and him getting past the monster Scylla. Odysseus had some mentors as he dealed with these events the most helpful were Athena (the goddess of wisdom), Teiresias, and the witch Circe. Odysseus does many heroic deeds in The Odyssey here are some of his best. Odysseus stabbed Polyphemus the cyclops, he visited the land of the dead, plus he save his men from being turned into swine by the witch Circe.
After a century of being pushed around in the ocean Odysseus finally makes it home. But his job is not done, earlier in the story he found out the suitors were trying to get with his wife. he also had to reclaim his kingdom but the hardest thing i believe is him having to meet his son.
Odyssey legend reveals a true hero's journey. Odysseus is called to Troy. During his journey he overcomes obstacles with help from the gods. Odysseus proves himself to be a classic hero.
